Huber Engineered Woods LLC Passes SFI Audit

The SFI Program of the Huber Engineered Woods LLC operations in Broken Bow Oklahoma, Commerce Georgia, Crystal Hill Virginia, Easton Maine, and Whites Creek Tennessee has demonstrated continuing conformance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard®, 2005-2009 Edition (SFIS), according to the NSFISR SFIS Certification Audit Process. NSF-ISR initially certified Huber Engineered Woods LLC to the SFIS on 12/30/2002.

The surveillance audit was performed by NSF-ISR on September 13, 2007, September 17-19, 2007 and October 2-3, 2007. The objective of the audit was to assess continuing conformance of the firm’s SFI Program to the requirements of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® Standard, 2005-2009 Edition. The scope of the SFIS Audit included procurement operations. Huber Engineered Woods LLC procures wood in the resident state of each mill as well as adjacent states. A variety of wood is procured based on the mill location and includes, pine, softwood, and soft hardwoods. In addition, a subset of SFI obligations to promote sustainable forestry practices, to seek legal compliance, and to incorporate continual improvement systems were reexamined during the audit.

Huber Engineered Woods LLC’s SFI Program was found to be in full conformance with the SFIS Standard.

Huber Engineered Woods LLC has also improved its SFI program as follows:

Huber Engineered Wood LLC has taken leadership roles with 2 State Implementation Committees as employees are SIC chairman in Virginia and Tennessee. Huber also sponsors a Landowner Seedling Program at several mill locations. This program is being audited under the continuous surveillance audit option provided in the SFI program.

The next surveillance audit is scheduled for September 2008.
